Johnnie Diltz Obituary

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth.

Johnnie Diltz was born one of eight children to Lonnie T. and Edd Diltz on June 20, 1937, in Charleston, MS. He was the last remaining sibling. He departed this life on Thursday, January 15 th , 2026. He took a break from school and joined the Army from August 1955 thru April 1957 – He received an Honorary discharge. When he returned to Charleston, he completed his education at Allen Carver High School in Charleston, MS and graduated in May 1959.  He moved to NY in 1961, following his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann Fair. They married in 1962 at my aunt’s house in NY and remained married  for 54 years until she passed away in 2016. He was a devoted husband.  They only had (1) child.
He accepted Christ as his personal savior in his 20’s.  While in NY, he went to a trade school to learn welding. After being injured, he went to work at North Shore Hospital in Manhasset NY as a medical supply transporter – he remained at the job until he retired. At the same time, he also worked as a security officer at night. He was a very proud man. He believed it was his job to take care of his family.  He decided to move back to Charleston, MS when he retired about 22 years ago. He purchased a home for the first time and was very proud of that.
