It is with profound condolences that the Clark-Williams Funeral Home family announce the passing of Dorothy B. Pratt on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
Dorothy Bridges Pratt was born on March 20, 1949 to Viola and A. D. Bridges in Hardy, Mississippi. Dorothy joined her loved one’s in heaven on September 17, 2024 surrounded by family in Memphis, Tennessee.
When Dorothy was born in Hardy, Mississippi, she and her twin brother, George were greeted by older siblings, Addie Mae, India (Freddie), Frank (B) and A. D. Jr. (Jim) and Betty.
Dorothy spent her preschool years in Oxberry and Holcomb schools and spent her church days at St. Peters Missionary Baptist Church. Later, when the family moved into Grenada, she attended Grenada schools.
Dorothy married William Pratt Jr. later welcoming three children; sons, Alex, Cedric and daughter Jessica. Dorothy’s family continued to grow when her daughter Jessica, blessed her with two granddaughters, Ja’ Niya and Jacelyn and son Alex’s daughter, Kadedra Kimble.
Not only was Dorothy a wonderful mom to her children but to the dozens of children she taught during her years with Head Start. Family was such a big part of her life and the time with her beloved family and friends was always her favorite pastime.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving parents A.D. and Viola, her husband, William Pratt, Jr, son, Cedric Pratt, brothers, Frank (B) Bridges, Major Bridges and Sam Bridges.
Survived by her daughter, Jessica Pratt, son, Alex Pratt, granddaughters Ja’Niya and Jacelyn Pratt. Sisters, Addie Mae Fobbs of Chicago, India (Freddie) Wicks of Grenada, MS, Betty Robinson of Greenville, MS., Dollie (Katie) Morrow (Marion), Memphis, TN, Brenda Hardy (Curtis) of Grenada. Also surviving brothers: A. D, (Jim) Bridges Jr., of Grenada, George Bridges (Tricia) of Lancaster, Texas, Dolphus Bridges (Barbara) of Grenada, Larry Bridges (Mary Ann) of Georgia and Calvin Bridges (Sheila) of Grenada.
Also surviving a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
