Obituary

It is our deepest condolences that Clark-Williams announces that passing of Mr. Breeds Horton of Alton, IL formerly of Grenada, MS.

Breeds Horton was born February 17, 1947 in Grenada, Mississippi as the youngest of five children from the blessed union of the late Lee and Flora (Taylor) Horton.
A faith foundation was established in his life early on thanks to his strong willed yet loving mother. It would be this faith that would be with him during his family move from racial turbulence in the South during the Civil Rights Era to Alton, IL. Not too long after graduating from Alton High, this same faith would keep him during his service to his country in the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, he would go on to work successfully for over twenty years at the Olin Corporation resulting in an early retirement.
The "golden rule" from Matthew 7:12 of doing unto others as you would have them do unto you was a life lesson passed down from his parents to him that he would apply again and again throughout his life as family was of the utmost importance to him.
Breeds Love or "Cool Breeds" would join his parents, big sister Holly F. Lacey, and nephew Barry on December 2, 2021 after having lived a full, blessed seventy-four years.
Thanks to the many life lessons he modeled before us are many to carry on his legacy: Two sisters, Lola (Robert) Thomas and Ernestine Jolliff, both of Alton, IL, and his big brother, Oscar Horton of Florissant, MO, his son Shon-tiyon Horton of Alton, IL, his nieces and nephews: Debbie, Barbara, Diane, Mark, Holly, Michael, Kimberly, Sam, Bobby, Bernard, Angela, Denise, Alicia, Pourshya, Cassandra, Daphne, Frankie, Missy, and Rita as well as an innumerable measure of cousins and grand-nephews, and grand-nieces, and great grand-nephews, and great grand-nieces, classmates, fellow soldiers, Olin work family, neighbors, and friends.

A Walk-through view will be held for Mr. Horton on December 18, 2021 at Clark-Williams Funeral Home from 10am -11am.

Funeral services will be held on December 18, 2021 at Clark-Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Grenada, MS at 11am.
